An 11-year-old Otley girl has had her long hair chopped off to help other children.
Bethany Metcalfe decided to get the chop so her locks could be sent to the Little Princess Trust.
The charity helps children who have suffered hair loss while being treated for cancer by providing them with real-hair wigs.
Bethany’s decision surprised her parents, Mel and Chris, but they are very proud of her selfless act.
Mel, a fundraising veteran herself, said: “Bethany amazed us by telling us she wanted to get her beautiful long red hair cut off but she was determined to do it so it could be sent to the Little Princess Trust.
“She said she wanted to make sure that children being treated for cancer have the chance to have hair too and hopes by doing this to motivate others to do the same.”
Askwith Community Primary School pupil Bethany had her hair cut by stylist Naomi Hemingway at Otley hairdressers Gifted Angel, who did it for free in support of the cause.
