Followers of the ever-popular Concert on the Grove will be able to enjoy another evening of music this month.

The Ilkley Parish Council 2014 Civic Concert will take place at the King’s Hall and Winter Garden on March 14, organised by local councillor, Mike Gibbons.

The evening’s concert is being held and promoted by Ilkley Parish Council as an event that is reasonably priced and is intended to be very popular in its style and appeal, and to offer high quality entertainment and music to delight.

Performing on the evening will be the City of Bradford Brass Band, pictured, which was crowned 1st section Champions of Yorkshire at the Yorkshire regional championships at St George’s Hall on Saturday.

The concert on March 14 will be the band’s first time out as champions and it is hoped as many people as possible will come to congratulate and celebrate with them.

Award-winning musical director Lee Skipsy will conduct the Band. Mr Skipsy has worked tirelessly and dynamically to help the City of Bradford Brass Band become not only Yorkshire winners but a Championship Section Band, which they will be from the New Year.

The concert features Halifax-born Emma Williams, a star of the West End Stage with a fabulous voice. Twice nominated for Olivier awards, she was the youngest female lead in the West End when she took the lead in the musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

She has appeared in films and done various TV work. She has appeared with Bryn Terfel, Michael Ball, worked closely with Howard Goodall and has recently been appearing in a spoonful of Sherman at the St James Studio Theatre in London.

She will sing numbers from film and stage as well as duets with Michael Durrant and two popular operatic arias.

Accomplished classical guitarist, Michael Durrant, will also play at the concert.

Mr Durrant recently came to live in Ilkley.

A bar will be open on the night.

Tickets for the concert cost £10 and £12, and are available from Ilkley Visitor information Centre, call (01943) 602319.
