A new sub-postmaster is being sought to run a Horsforth post office which boasts a tribute to Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee.

Cragg Hill Post Office has become known for the gold post box outside which was painted to celebrate the achievement of the Olympic gold medallist in 2012.

Now Post Office Ltd is looking for someone to run the branch, as the current postmaster is retiring due to ill health.

The New Road Side branch is described as a business opportunity that would suit someone with commercial experience.

Tony Stannard, Post Office field change advisor, said: “This opportunity would be an ideal venture for someone who wants to take on a new challenge, and develop the retail side of the business, or for a nearby business to absorb the Post Office into their existing retail as it brings with it guaranteed customer footfall.

“The new owner of Cragg Hill Post Office would benefit from an investment programme which is aimed at ensuring the best possible customer experience in branches that are bright, accessible and inviting – either at the existing premises or a new location.”
