An international tennis coach from Ilkley has written a sports psychology and coaching book, Locker Room Power – Building an Athlete’s Mind.

David Sammel has more than 25 years’ experience in world of tennis, coaching international players to career high rankings, many of whom have represented their countries in the Davis Cup and Olympics.

He regularly contributes to interviews by the UK tennis media including BBC Radio 5, The Times, Sky Sports and is a contributing editor for Tennishead Magazine and tennisone.com.

The new book, which contains a foreword by Judy Murray and an in-depth interview with Tim Henman, provides insights, practical ideas and techniques to athletes and coaches on how they can unlock the true potential of a sportsperson, enhance their performance and achieve their professional goals.

The book draws on Sammel’s honed and tested coaching methods and subsequent evolvement of the philosophy he’s named Locker Room Power (LRP).

Interviews, observations and examples of LRP in practice are included throughout the book, coupled with contributions from leading sports psychologist Louise Scott and Mark Nesti, reader of Sports Psychology at Liverpool John Moore’s University.

Mr Sammel said: “I am proud that I have named a phenomenon we all know exists and feel. Athletes, coaches, and in many ways all of us, can improve our performance and be more successful in life by understanding LRP – both by using it and defending against it.”

Locker Room Power – Building an Athlete’s Mind, is now available to buy on Amazon. To find out more about Locker Room Power and its author David Sammel, visit lockerroompower. com.
