A special telephone line has been set up to provide key information and details around this year’s Tour de France Grand Départ in Yorkshire – now less than five months away.

The number has been specifically chosen to reflect the fact that the Grand Départ of the Tour de France is taking place in Yorkshire in July 2014.

The information line number – 08435 07 2014 – has been secured by regional telecoms specialist NGC Networks on behalf of tourism agency Welcome to Yorkshire.

Callers to the number will hear the voice of Gary Verity, the chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, who will direct them to a series of options providing advice and useful information on everything from the Stage 1 and 2 routes and volunteering to where to stay, road closures and parking.

The information will be regularly updated as preparations are put in place for the start of the world’s greatest cycle race.

NGC Networks director Nikki Guest said: “Everyone wants to be part of this great event coming to Yorkshire and we thought what better than to secure the July date within the information line number.”

Gary Verity said: “This is a great initiative by NGC Networks and a first for me!

“The information line will be vital for people who don’t have access to the internet – it will provide them with up-to-the-minute details on everything they need to know about the Grand Départ.”

The 120-mile Stage 1 of the Grand Départ 2014 takes place on Saturday, July 5, starting in Leeds and finishing in Harrogate. Stage 2, on Sunday, July 6, is between York and Sheffield. For more information, visit letour.yorkshire.com.
