Barnardo’s is appealing for people in Guiseley and the surrounding towns and villages to raise money to help vulnerable children.

The charity is looking for people to become fundraising volunteers in their local community and help raise cash to support Barnardo’s projects across the Leeds area, working with disadvantaged children, young people and their families.

Those receiving help include children living in poverty, at risk of homelessness or caring for a sick or disabled relative The role could involve placing collection boxes in the community, counting donations raised by schools or inspiring others about the charity’s work.

Community fundraising volunteer manager Amanda Warrent said: “Volunteering with Barnardo’s is a great way to meet new people and help others.

“By giving us a little of your spare time you can also gain invaluable experience that could provide a stepping stone to a new career or add to your personal statement for college or university. It’s an opportunity to have some fun by joining the local Barnardo’s team.”

Volunteers, who are of all ages and come from all walks of life, are given training and ongoing support. See barnardos.org.uk/volunteering, or contact Amanda Warrant at amanda.warrent@barnardos.org.uk or on (0113) 263 3252.
