A history of a well-known scout hostel has been compiled covering its time from 1742 to the present day.

Hag Dyke is an old farm converted to a scout hostel, 1,525 feet high on the slopes of Great Whernside, a mile from Kettlewell.

The 40-bedded hostel, owned by the Coulthurst Trust, has been leased and administered by the 1st Ben Rhydding Scout Group of Ilkley since 1947.

Now past leaders, scouts and wardens, can relive their experiences through a 127 A4 page spiral bound history, containing visitor book entries, together with personal accounts and memories relating to the history of hostel.

Copies can be obtained by calling Robin Beaumont on (01943) 607021 during office hours.
