Appeal for Scout leaders to maintain Guiseley Cubs night
8:00am Tuesday 28th January 2014 in Local news
A scouting group has made an urgent appeal for leaders to prevent the closure of one of its cub nights.
The 15th Airedale Scout Group, based at St Oswald’s in Guiseley, is appealing for volunteers to come forward so that it can continue to run its full services.
Group leader Maureen Cooper said: “We are in danger of closing Monday Cubs due to a lack of leaders and desperately need people willing to volunteer to go into uniform to help keep all the sections running. Just two hours a week for one night is all that we are asking.”
The group, which is based at the Green, opposite the leisure centre, can be contacted via its website www.15thairedale.co.uk by anyone who is interested.
The group was recently presented with a cheque for £750 to buy equipment which will be used for training and education.
The money was donated by the West Riding Masonic Charities.
The money will be used to buy a projector, screen and blu-ray player so the children can enjoy watching films on sleepovers and during meeting nights.
It will also to be used for the training of leaders and educating the children, and for presentations about trips abroad, such as a visit to Kenya in 2010, and an activity break in Normandy in 2013.
