Sunday opening is being offered at Yeadon’s new-look post office.

The High Street shop has been officially re-opened after a revamp to turn it into a ‘main style branch’.

The outlet will now open for an extra 15 hours per week, including Sunday mornings, from 8am to noon.

The modernised shop was officially re-opened on Friday, January 10, with Leeds North-West MP Greg Mulholland cutting the ribbon.

He said: “It’s great news that Yeadon Post Office has been refurbished and modernised and the new Post Office looks great. Congratulations to Mr Anis Ahmed Khan, the Post Office and all those involved for their hard work.  “The post office is vital to the community in Yeadon and I’m sure the improved office, and the longer opening hours, will be warmly welcomed by residents throughout Yeadon.”

Anis Ahmed Khan, owner of the Yeadon Post Office, said: “This has been a major modernisation and the layout has been changed to make the post office and retail more integrated.

“The change is incredible – taking the signage off the windows has made it much lighter and brighter. Everyone comments on the new-look and layout, so the hard work has been worth it. We will now be operating extended opening hours from the retail till in addition to Saturday afternoon opening.”

Steve Bruckshaw, Post Office senior stakeholder manager, was confident that the new modern Yeadon branch would secure services for the future.

He said: “The modernisation is part of a major investment programme to convert the Post Office network to new-style branches.”
