A sponsored head shave in Otley has raised £1,000 for Leeds General Infirmary’s children’s heart unit.
Kate Hobson, an employee at the town’s Sainsbury’s supermarket, agreed to shed her locks for the cause last Saturday.
The fundraiser was in memory of five month old Ella Louise Newson-Smith, who was cared for at the heart unit, and supported by her parents – Kate’s colleague Hannah Reynard, and Jamie Newson-Smith.
The figure collected was double the target and money can still be donated by visiting justgiving.com/crazy-kate .
Kate’s hair meanwhile, will be used by The Little Princess Trust to create wigs for children who have lost their hair due to hospital treatment.
