Councillors have welcomed a decision to reconsider new bin collection arrangements in Otley.
Leeds City Council came under fire when it became apparent that the recent switch to more frequent, fortnightly, green bin collections would not cover much of the town centre.
Otley’s three ward councillors (all Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) condemned the omission in a joint statement, and last week Councillor Ryk Downes also raised the issue at a full meeting of the city council.
Now Leeds has agreed to review the situation in Otley before the end of the year.
Coun Downes said: “Given the strong reputation Otley has for recycling, it was very surprising to discover that hundreds of households had been left off the new fortnightly green bin collections.
“Having brought the matter to the attention of the council meeting, I’m pleased to see that the authority has acted and the decision will be looked at again before Christmas.
“I hope this leads to the council changing its mind and giving increased green bin collections to these streets.”
