Ilkley artists’ Christmas designs are chosen
8:00am Thursday 31st October 2013 in Local news
Students in the three art classes at Ilkley’s Clarke Foley Centre have designed Christmas cards.
Creative artwork was submitted to a panel of judges and six designs chosen.
Volunteer Pam Brown, who organised the project, said the response had been tremendous.
“The range of designs was excellent and included traditional scenes, some very pretty designs and a couple of provocative ones,” she said.
Barbara Davy, who runs two of the centre’s art classes, was delighted with the standard of art work and the imagination of the artists.
She said: “Most used watercolour but some used collage, and all were beautifully executed.”
The cards, which are being printed locally, will be available from the Clarke Foley Centre on Cunliffe Road from Monday in packs of six for £4.50.
All proceeds will contribute to replacing the centre’s doors with automatic doors to enable people using wheelchairs and walking aids to enter the building easily and unaided.
