Support could be on hand for Otley grandparents
9:00am Wednesday 16th October 2013 in Local news
A new support group for grandparents could be set up in Otley.
The Leeds (& Yorkshire) Grandparents Association is exploring the move after identifying a large number of grandparents in the area who have significant child care commitments.
The charity aims to offer practical support to grandparents and grandchildren and is working in collaboration with Otley Children Centre.
Manager Dave Cousins is inviting grandparents and their families to visit the Otley Core Resource Centre tomorrow, Friday, October 11, to find out more and say what local services they would like.
He said: “We have found a large number of grandparents in and around the Otley area who are either raising their grandchildren full time, as kinship carers, or who look after young grandchildren as childminders during the week.”
The consultation event takes place from 10am to 1pm, when free refreshments will be available, and the association is also asking local councillors and representatives from other organisations to come along.
For more details call Mr Cousins on (0113) 244 6111 or 07772 260403 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
