Wharfedale cadets meet forces minister on visit to London

Cadets from 1224 (Wharfedale) Squadron, Air Training Corps visited 10 Downing Street and met the Armed Forces Minister on a trip to London.
Following on from a meeting with the Squadron’s local MP, Kris Hopkins, earlier in the year, the Squadron was invited down to London.
They were given a tour of the Houses of Parliament, visiting the House of Lords and the Queen’s Robing Room.
The cadets were then escorted to the Ministry of Defence where they were introduced to the Rt Hon Andrew Robathan MP, the Minister of State for the Armed Forces,x along with Lt Col Andrew Watkins, of the Royal Marines, and Wing Commander James Beck, who has recently been selected to be the Commanding Officer of the first RAF F-35B Lightning II Squadron.
After this visit, cadets learned they had been granted permission to go to Downing Street and have their photo taken outside of Number Ten.
During their visit to London, they also laid a wreath at the Battle of Britain Memorial, and visited some of the sights of the capital, including Horse Guards Parade, Trafalgar Square, The Mall and Buckingham Palace, before laying another wreath at the Bomber Command Memorial.
