Burley beer festival raises £1,500 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance
1:00pm Tuesday 8th October 2013 in Local news
The third annual Burley-in-Wharfedale beer and cider festival was another resounding success, attracting more people than in previous years.
In total £750 was raised for Yorkshire Air Ambulance which was matched by Barclays Bank Plc to make a grand total of £1,500. About 95 per cent of the beer and cider was sold by the end of the night at the event, held at Burley Social Club, Hill Top, off Main Street.
Organisers said they would like to thank all those who supported and sponsored the event, and gave so generously towards the worthy cause. The main sponsor for this year’s festival, in August, was the Aagrah restaurant.
Formerly known as Burley Rifle Club, the social club will celebrate its centenary on October 11.
Next year’s beer festival will be on Saturday August 23, the bank holiday weekend.
