10:00am Saturday 5th October 2013 in Local news
MEP Rebecca Taylor visited Airedale Hospital to see how its telemedicine services contributed to Yorkshire and the Humber becoming a Reference Site of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing.
Ms Taylor, MEP for Yorkshire and the Humber, visited the hospital’s Telehealth Hub to see how staff use telemedicine to support patients.
She said: “The potential of telehealth to revolutionise healthcare delivery has been talked about for some years, in particular in relation to supporting the health of an ageing population, but not always put into action. It was great to see how Airedale is successfully using telehealth technology to personalise and streamline patient care.”
During her visit, Ms Taylor saw how patients can have consultations with health professionals from the comfort of their own home, nursing home or GP surgery via secure video link.
