Young people are being helped to develop their coaching skills with a grant from councillors.
A scheme which provides funding for sports leaders aged between 17 and 25 has been given £1,000. The money will help participants to take sporting qualifications in order to progress to the next level in their coaching career.
Guiseley and Rawdon councillor Paul Wadsworth, chairman of Leeds City Council’s North West Outer Area Committee, said: “I am happy that we could support the coaching scholarship scheme. It will hopefully provide the Outer North West area with a number of excellent coaches who can train our sportsmen and increase sporting excellence in our area.
“This money will help to support young people starting out in their coaching careers and enable them to develop their coaching skills and to become more actively involved with coaching their chosen sport in their club environment.
“It is important that we support young volunteers to help them to develop their community spirit at a young age.”
