Postponed inspection of Otley Bridge set to take place
9:00am Monday 23rd September 2013 in Local news
Otley Bridge will receive a routine inspection in November.
The work by Leeds City Council was due to take place earlier but was postponed so it didn't clash with September's Otley Vintage Transport Extravaganza.
Engineering officers will now be examining the bridge, which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, between 7am and 1pm on Sunday, November 10.
The work will be done in two phases, with the first, from 7am, involving an inspection of the footway. The bridge will be closed to traffic during this phase, with a signed diversion in place, but pedestrians will be allowed to cross using the road.
The bridge will then be re-opened for the following stage of the inspection, which is part of an ongoing, regular programme of checks to ensure the structure remains safe.
