Guiseley football club teams up with youth charity Action for Children
1:00pm Saturday 14th September 2013 in Local news
Guiseley AFC has joined forces with a national children’s charity.
The club will be working closely with Action for Children in the coming months in order to develop community challenge programmes – and its players will sport the Action for Children logo on their away shirts.
The programmes will aim to improve facilities at the club and in the community in general as well as providing training and work experience for local young people.
Although still at the planning stage, it is envisaged that the programmes will also be able to encompass a healthy lifestyle agenda via sports taster sessions – with young carers among one of the priority target groups.
The club see this as a natural extension of its community programme that is supported by the Football Conference Trust, the PFA and the Premier League. Officials are now looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership with the major national charity.
Action for Children is committed to helping the most vulnerable and neglected children and young people break through injustice, deprivation and inequality, so they can achieve their full potential.
They specialise in working with children and young people whose families need support, who are in care, who are disabled or who experience severe difficulties in their lives.
The charity works with more than 250,000 children, young people and their families through 600 children’s services across the UK.
