A Guiseley opticians has pledged its support to a local school pupil with his educational expedition across Asia by helping him raise vital funds for the trip.
The team at the Specsavers store in Guiseley is choosing to support 16-year-old Jack Hansen-Maughan in his challenging four-week expedition that will see him travel to Thailand and Laos in South East Asia.
The store has sponsored Jack £200 which will go towards covering the cost of his trip.
The Specsavers team also plans to hold a raffle in the run-up to Jack’s expedition to raise further funds to ensure he can jet off on his travels.
Jack is taking part in the educational program, World Challenge, which sees students travel to various locations in the developing world. The local student will spend 28 days travelling through Thailand and Laos gaining a rich cultural experience.
Jack will will face a selection of challenging treks and will also take part in voluntary work for local communities in both countries.
Amanda Gale, store director at Specsavers in Guiseley, said: “As a longstanding business we feel it is important to make a commitment to support those within our community.
“Jack’s expedition will be a great experience and we are thrilled to sponsor him. It is important for us to support not only our local area but help fund those who are helping the communities of others.”
World Challenge focuses on educating young people, stretching their comfort zones and expanding their minds outside the classroom.
