Soroptimist International of Ilkley held a Spring Fair and raised £750.
The money will support two projects. The first is the Keighley Women’s Aid which provides a service to women and children of all ages who are fleeing domestic abuse and require support and practical help to move on to a better life. If you are experiencing abuse or are able to donate much needed items to the refuge visit: keighleywomensaid.org.uk
The second project is the Vabitsiri club in Uganda. The money will help with projects in schools and efforts to improve the well being of women. Recently they gave chickens to a group of women to encourage them to produce eggs both for their own consumption and for sale.
Pat Crewe, of Soroptimist International Ilkley, said: “We would like to thank people for generously supporting this event and Ilkley Town Crier Chris Richards who did a sterling job in publicising the event.”
