Horsforth MP praises green firms' contribution to economy

Horsforth and Aireborough’s MP Stuart Andrew has hailed the contribution of green business to the local economy in a message for Climate Week.
Mr Andrew said: “Climate Week 2013 offers a great chance to look not only at the environmental but economic benefits of going green.
“Businesses across Pudsey and Yorkshire help to drive energy efficiency and generate growth and jobs. And through energy efficiency schemes like our Green Deal, people will have the chance to save money on their energy bills by reducing the need to spend so much to stay warm.”
The MP, whose Pudsey constituency includes Horsforth and Aireborough, said there were 3,741 companies in Yorkshire which were involved in green business, employing 67,871 people.
More than £855 million is contributed to UK exports from green companies in the region.
