The culinary skills of an Otley student have earned him a place in the final of the National Junior Curry Chef Competition.

Jack Hayward, a Year 11 pupil at Prince Henry's Grammar School, impressed the judges at the regional heat of the contest by producing a mouth-watering vegetable curry.

He will now battle it out for the national title when he joins other regional winners for the final on Tuesday, April 9 - an event that will be covered by the BBC.

Curriculum leader of Prince Henry's Design and Technology department, Alyson Blakeley, said: "I'm really thrilled that Jack cooked his way into the next round.

"He worked hard to produce a dish which clearly impressed the judges - good luck in the next round, Jack!"
