Fairtrade tea is served as Ilkley Grammar School boys spread the message

Schoolboys served up tea and biscuits to get the Fairtrade message across.
Daniel Lawton, James Simpson and Will Basey spent the morning at the Clarke Foley Centre in Ilkley, to raise awareness of the issue.
The boys, all year ten students at Ilkley Grammar School, brought along Fairtrade goods to sell alongside Fairtrade tea, hot chocolate and coffee. The project was part of their coursework for their GCSE in Citizenship and was aimed at informing people about the importance of Fairtrade goods.
“We wanted to come to the Clarke Foley Centre because it’s used by a lot of people in Ilkley. We thought it would be a good place to raise awareness of Fairtrade,” Daniel said.
Judith Ellis, Centre Manager, said they were pleased to support the initiative. “We use as many fairly-traded items as we can in our coffee bar so it was natural that we should support the students in their project.”
The boys took turns to sell Fairtrade drinks behind the coffee bar, and to sell biscuits, chocolate and other items on a small stall.
