Retired textile designer Peter Holdsworth, 83, was delighted to be able to show his grandchildren his previous vocation, with a tour around Abraham Moon in Guiseley.
Having visited their retail showroom at the Courtyard, near Settle, earlier this year, Peter discovered the unique mill, that has been manufacturing woollen fabrics for over 175 years, was one of the last remaining fully vertical woollen mills left in the UK with all dyeing, blending, carding, spinning, weaving and finishing processes all on one site.
He could not resist making contact with them and they offered him a full tour with his family.
“I was delighted to show my grandkids an industry I worked in all my life,” said Mr Holdsworth, of Wilsden.
“When I was young there were hundreds of businesses in the area associated with the textile trade and it was a great privilege to see all those processes working again, in such a thriving business. My grandchildren were fascinated.”
