Speed-limit bid outside Prince Henry's Grammar School
7:00am Tuesday 26th February 2013 in Local news
A new 20mph speed limit could be introduced on roads around Otley’s secondary school.
Leeds City Council is proposing an advisory 20mph limit for sections of Farnley Lane and Newall Carr Road outside Prince Henry’s Grammar School.
If it proceeds, the move, requested by ward councillors, would see ‘School – 20 When Lights Show’ signs installed, along with flashing lights which will operate at busy times.
Several pupils have been struck by cars in recent years while making their way to or from the school, and there have also been a number of near-misses.
A similar 20mph advisory limit scheme is already in place on Arthington Lane, in Pool-in-Wharfedale, near the village’s primary school.
