Ilkley uneral directors in effort to expand

A long-established funeral director is seeking to extend its Ilkley premises following “brisk” business in recent years.

H Eaton and Son, founded in 1935, wants to extend its Ashlands Road chapel of rest as it has outgrown the premises. The business is seeking planning permission from Bradford Council to build an extension on a plot of land to the east of the current premises, creating an extra 123 square metres of floor space, and provide a further 12 parking spaces.

A design and access statement prepared for the planning application said: “Over the last five years business has been brisk and they have outgrown the premises they operate from at Ashlands Road, Ilkley.

“My clients have recently had the oportunity to purchase the plot of land to the east of the site which fronts Ashlands Road.”

The new space, says the report, will provide a garage for the hearse. The plan is expected to be determined by Bradford Council.
