Bobble along and help warm up the country

Age UK Ilkley is encouraging everyone in the area to join in and help warm up Britain for Age UK’s Bobble Day.

People across the country will be getting involved in this annual fundraiser, raising money to help make winter warmer for older people who are suffering needlessly at this time of year.

For Bobble Day 2013, Age UK Ilkley will be hosting name the teddy and guess the cake weight competitions all day today at the shop in The Grove, Ilkley.

For anyone who is unable to attend on the day, there are plenty of other ways to take part in Age UK’s Bobble Day.

All people need to do is something warming, from digging out long-forgotten woolly jumpers and wearing them to work, to holding a tea morning or wrapping up for a bracing winter walk. Just make a donation and ask others to support you.

There are also fluffy bobbles available for a suggested donation of £1 from Age UK shops.

Shop manager at the Age UK Ilkley, Julie Cook, said: “Taking part in Bobble Day is simple and fun. Whether people join us at name the teddy, guess the cake weight or organise their own winter warming activity, everyone will be helping to raise vital funds for people in later life. We want to encourage as many people as possible in Ilkley to get involved and help us to warm up Britain this winter.”

Older people and their families can call Age UK Advice for free on 0800 1696565, where they can order a free copy of ‘Winter wrapped up’ with a free thermometer.
