An exhibition of landscape paintings by Otley artist Shane Green has gone on display in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.

Mr Green, who teaches at Prince Henry’s Grammar School and Leeds College of Art, used the landscape of the Dales as his inspiration for the works.

Titled Feelings, Expressions and Beyond, the exhibition opened at the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority’s Yoredale offices, in Bainbridge, on Monday and will run until the end of March.

Mr Green, who has been sculpting, painting and etching for more than 20 years, said: “These works represent my personal response to the beauty and majesty of the Yorkshire Dales.

“I have tried to capture the vibrant freshness and powerful physicality of this extraordinary landscape.

“The paintings express immediacy and quick gestural spontaneity, conveying man’s temporary occupation within the solid, natural structures that sustain their beauty through time and season, and the ever-changing elements.”

The National Park Authority’s director of corporate services, Richard Burnett, said: “Shane’s work offers a different take on the dramatic and beautiful countryside in the Yorkshire Dales. We hope his exhibition will be an attraction for both visitors and those who come to the offices on business.”

The Yoredale offices are open from 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
