Older people in Bradford are being encouraged to use life-saving bowel screening kits as part of bowel cancer awareness week next week.
Bowel cancer is the UK’s second biggest cancer killer and home testing kits, which have been used by people in parts of the region since 2005, are posted out to everyone between the ages of 60 and 75.
Andrew Clark, acting regional director of public health for NHS Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “Bowel cancer can be present even when there are no obvious symptoms and so we would really encourage people in the 60-75 age group to use the free kit.”
Screening is for people without symptoms. If you are concerned about any symptoms, please contact your GP or call NHS Direct on 0845 46 47.
