More pedal power is being sought for a fundraising 24-hour exercise bike ‘spinathon’ in Ilkley later this month.

Fitness instructor and personal trainer Sarah Mayrick and her husband, Alex, hope to enlist more cyclists for their round-the-clock effort to pedal the equivalent of riding from Sydney to Leeds.

The challenge will take place at Dillon’s Health and Fitness Studio, Railway Road, Ilkley, from January 25 to 26.

The Mayricks are taking part in the London Marathon in April, and plan to use the spinathon challenge to boost fundraising towards their £7,500 goal.

They are raising money for the charity Children With Cancer UK.

Mrs Mayrick, of Burley-in-Wharfedale, said a few team bikes and slots on individual bikes were still free for the event, if anyone wanted to take part in a charitable challenge or get their New Year resolution off to a good start by getting fit.
