Otley event on how to raise funds online
8:00am Saturday 12th January 2013 in Local news
Local charities and community groups will be able to learn more about online fundraising at a drop-in event in Otley this month.
Leeds Community Foundation is holding the informal session at Otley Courthouse from 4pm to 6pm on Wednesday, January 23.
People are invited to attend and enjoy a cup of tea and cake while finding out how using Localgiving.com, a not-for-profit fundraising website, might boost their group’s finances.
The website allows local groups to showcase their work and allows community organisations, as well as registered charities, to raise money and showcase their work online and benefit from gift aid.
Megan Vickery, Localgiving.
com manager at Leeds Community Foundation, said: “It’s really important for groups to think about new ways of raising the money they need, specially in these challenging times, when counting every penny matters more than ever.”
Sally-Anne Greenfield, chief executive at Leeds Community Foundation, said: “It’s vital that communities are equipped to find the funding they need – that’s why we are providing this support to help local groups get started on Localgiving.com.”
Groups can contact Megan on (0113) 2422426 or e-mail her at localgiving@leedscf.org.uk.
