Concern at A65 gully blockages
12:00pm Sunday 6th January 2013 in Local news
A councillor has flagged up the problem of blocked gullies on the busy A65 through Wharfedale in an effort to make sure the road is receiving its full share of maintenance.
Ilkley ward councillor Anne Hawkesworth (Con, Ilkley) got in touch with Bradford Council highways officers last week to report blocked gullies on a stretch of the road between Burley-in-Wharfedale and Ilkley.
Coun Hawkesworth recently sought assurances from council leader Councillor David Green that the road is still receiving its fair share of Government money allocated for the maintenance of former trunk roads.
She also asked the leader to support the view that former trunk roads such as the A65 were strategic routes and should be maintained to high specifications for safety reasons.
