A former BBC Look North presenter will chair a question time session in Addingham, as villagers ask local figures for answers on big issues.

Judith Stamper, who is now deputy head and principal teaching fellow in broadcast journalism at Leeds University’s Institute of Communications Studies, has agreed to chair the debate, organised by Addingham Civic Society, at Bracken Ghyll Golf Club on January 11.

She said: “I’m delighted to be part of Addingham’s Question Time.

“The village has always been a hive of activity and, through the Civic Society, now has an exciting online presence which is the epitome of local citizen engagement with important local and national issues.

“Long may it continue!

“I can’t wait to hear local Addingham folk tackle some of their representatives as well as some experts and stakeholders in this live forum.

“It’ll be a pleasure and privilege to chair the debate.”

The event has been arranged by the village’s civic society, one of the largest such societies in Yorkshire, to air the views of key figures, including elected representatives.

Villagers have been invited to send in questions ahead of the session.

Questions are already coming in, and a meeting is to take place among the organisers and session chairman to decide what order to run questions in on the night.

A number of people have already booked their seats at the event.

Also on the panel will be Ilkley and Keighley MP Kris Hopkins, ward councillors Andrew Mallinson (Con, Craven) and Adrian Naylor (Ind, Craven), Addingham Parish Council chairman Catherine Coates and Bradford Council assistant director of planning Julian Jackson.

The session starts at 7.30pm.

There will be no entry fee for society members.

The charge for non-members is £3.

Questions can be mailed to info@addinghamcivicsociety.co.uk.
