Teachers and students from across Europe have enjoyed an educational visit to Otley.

Pupils and staff from schools in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and other parts of the UK all took part in Prince Henry’s Grammar School’s fourth Comenius project last week.

Sponsored by the European Union, the scheme allows students from many different countries to work collaboratively on different topics.

At Prince Henry’s, the project has focused on exploring the issues of equality and diversity and the 30 visiting students presented their results of questionnaire about gender and sexuality.

The visitors also enjoyed taking part in workshops about local history, dialect and cuisine, along with a trip to York, a night out bowling and a gala celebration dinner, during their five-day stay.

They also got a chance to meet Otley town mayor Councillor Mary Vickers (Lib Dem, Prince Henry), who dropped in to see them at the school.
