A flowerbed that is good enough to eat
9:00am Friday 30th November 2012 in Local news
Creative gardeners in Horsforth, Rawdon, Yeadon and Otley are being urged to design an edible flowerbed and see their ideas brought to life.
Four winners will receive garden vouchers worth up to £250 and will see their gardens turned into reality outside Leeds Civic Hall.
The competition, which is open to organisations, individuals and schools, aims to produce attractive flowerbeds while inspiring people to grow their own food.
It is being run by the city council’s parks and countryside service and the Leeds Floral Initiative, and is part of the new ‘Feed Leeds’ project, which aims to bring individuals, groups and organisations together to promote and support local food growing in the city.
Entry packs can be obtained by e-mailing parks@leeds. gov.uk or pick one up from Farnley Hall, Leeds LS12 5HA.
