Airedale Hospital has been highlighted as an example of good practice in a national report about the state of care in the NHS.

The report highlights the findings of an unannounced visit to the hospital in Steeton last year, which focused on whether patients, particularly vulnerable older people, were treated with dignity and respect and whether their nutritional needs were being met.

The hospital, which is the major general hospital serving Ilkley, is praised for piloting a scheme known as the Butterfly Scheme, to help patients who have memory loss due to dementia.

Rob Dearden, Director of Nursing at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust said: β€œIt is very important to us that our patients and their families are treated with dignity and respect.”
