Guiseley Juniors football team reels in a big new sponsor

Members of a youth football team are hoping to have a whale of a time after attracting new sponsors.

Guiseley Juniors have been kitted out thanks to support from the Wetherby Whaler.

Guiseley Juniors is the largest junior football club in the country. Donations from local sponsors help the club as it offers chances in sport to 500 children, from under-sixes and to under-17s.

Ian Elsworth, Guiseley Juniors’ under-nines Blue Team coach, said: “We’d like to pass on a huge thank-you to the Wetherby Whaler for its support for the club.

“It means so much to all of the children involved to be able to be part of a team community and to be able to get active. The new strip will give our team even more confidence as we enter the new season.”

Earlier this year, the Wetherby Whaler opened a restaurant and takeaway in Guiseley on the site of the old Harry Ramsden’s fish and chip shop.

Phillip Murphy, owner of the Wetherby Whaler, said: “We’re happy to be able to help out this local club.

“The community in Guiseley is very important to us, particularly since it has supported our new restaurant so well. We wish the team all the best and look forward to hearing about their success.”
