High-speed broadband network expanded to Ilkley and Rawdon

Businesses in Ilkley and Rawdon are the latest to be given access to high-speed fibre broadband by BT as part of a multi-million pound investment programme.

It means more than 76,000 house-holders and firms across the county have joined in the high-speed revolution.

The BT investment is expected to give a major boost to the local economy. A recent report by Regeneris Consulting predicted that during the next 15 years, the technology could give the economy of a typical town a £143 million boost, create 225 jobs, 140 start-up businesses and 1,000 more homeworkers.

John Anderson, BT regional director, said: “The advent of fibre broadband in further locations across West Yorkshire is a massive fillip for businesses and households in the communities.

“They’re joining 11 million UK premises that are now passed by one of the world’s fastest-growing fibre networks.”
