Drink drive man can't recall

3:16pm Monday 1st October 2001

A POLICE officer charged with drink driving has claimed he has no recollection of the events.

Detective Constable Gary William Sayer, 38, of the flying squad at Tower Bridge, was allegedly over the limit while in his Ford Mondeo, in Grove Park Road, Bromley.

Defending, Mr Isaacs said his client “has no recollection of the events which happened” on April 20 and was waiting to see a neurologist for an assessment.

A witness would be able to testify the 38-year-old serving police officer had not been drinking alcohol on the day in question, Bromley Magistrates' Court heard.

There was also the “possibility his drink was laced”, added Mr Isaacs.

Magistrate Charles Lowe adjourned the case until October 9 to give the defence time to get a neurological report and an expert opinion on the lacing of drinks.

Sayer was given unconditional bail. The case continues.
