For anyone in still in any doubt about the Tour de France Grand Depart coming to the district, 35 new brown tourist signs will be going up to mark the route.

The new signs will form a permanent legacy of this spectacular cycling race coming to the Bradford district on the weekend of July 5 and 6.

On Monday the Lord Mayor of Bradford Coun Khadim Hussain showed pupils from Addingham Primary School one of the signs in their village that indicates where the race will go on both Stage One and Stage Two.

Coun Khadim Hussain said: “I can’t wait until the district welcomes the Tour de France Grand Depart and these new signs will really put the route in our district on the map for residents and visitors alike. I hope people using these signs to either cycle or drive the route stop off and visit our beautiful towns and villages. We would really like people to tweet their pictures of the new signs to @bradfordmdc.”
