Dozens of Otley students have headed to South Africa for a once in a lifetime sports trip.
Fifty eight pupils from Prince Henry's Grammar School will be playing rugby and netball matches against some of the country’s best teams over the next ten days.
The Year 9 and 10 students will also visit an orphanage where they will coach the children and take in cultural landmarks like Table Mountain and Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned.
Deputy faculty leader in PE at Prince Henry's, Dean Hyam, said: “The sports tour is a mix of testing sporting matches and eye-opening cultural experiences.
“The standard of school rugby and netball in South Africa is extremely high, so it gives our students the chance to really test their skills.
“At the same time, the international aspect is very important at Prince Henry’s, throughout the curriculum, and this tour gives them the opportunity to immerse themselves in a very different culture.”
Four local firms, Club Energy Gym, J R Sports, Ladies Only Travel and Mulitmedia Installations Limited, are sponsoring the trip.
