More than 500 people have enjoyed Timble’s first Village Green Fair.

Crowds flocked to the event, which showcased the work of 16 environmentally sustainable businesses, at the Robinson Library – which is Timble’s Village Hall.

Attractions included a demon-stration by Ilkley wood turner Hugh Leishman, live music and stalls selling everything from locally made bread, cakes and cheese to recycled jewellery. Ilkley-based organisers Aileen Brindle, from Aileen Brindle Projects, and Emma Straw, from Cakewalk Handmade and Vintage, were delighted with the turnout.

They said: “The fair was a great success and achieved its aims of raising the profile of, and profits for, the Timble Village Hall while providing an excellent selling venue and showcase for 16 local ‘green’, small businesses.

“It was also a fun event for all the family. We were thrilled at the amount of attention it created, the money that was raised for local businesses, and the positive feedback we’ve received.

“There were many comments about the fabulous venue, wonderful stalls, quality products and the great atmosphere.

“We hope to build on this success and create other Village Green Fair events in and around the area.”
