Menston Pre-School organises nearly-new sale for girl's treatment

Charlotte Wormald, who suffers from cerebral palsy, is making progress after medical treatment abroad
A little girl with cerebral palsy is being given help towards vital treatment and equipment by the pre- school she used to attend.
Charlotte Wormald weighed just 970 grammes when she was born prematurely in 2006 along with her twin sister Emily.
While Emily has done well and is developing normally, the twins’ parents – Radka and Mark – were warned Charlotte would have spastic quadriplegia, the most severe form of cerebral palsy.
Charlotte has travelled to the Czech Republic four times a year for Vojta treatment since the age of eight months.
On their website – charlottewormald-familyandfriends.
co.uk – her parents say: “The treatment is intense and Charlotte always shows significant improvement during her stay. Although she is still unable to sit or stand unsupported, recent improvements have led to her being able to hold on to things with her hands, including spoons and forks. Her speech is also developing and she can say many single words.”
Between visits to the clinic, the treatment is continued at home by Radka two to three times per day, using an exercise programme which is updated according to her progress.
Charlotte is described as a “bright and happy child with an infectious smile and a cheeky giggle”.
Her parents added: “Charlotte does have profound physical disabilities and will continue to need support and treatment throughout her life.
“Her home has been adapted to accommodate wheelchairs and other equipment. There are other therapies available and these may prove beneficial as she grows and develops.”
Now Menston Pre-School is doing its bit to help the youngster by donating the proceeds of its autumn nearly-new sale. The event normally raises funds for the pre-school itself, but this time organisers are giving the money to help towards vital treatment and equipment for Charlotte.
The nearly-new sale will take place from 10am to noon on Saturday, October 13, at Kirklands Community Centre in Main Street, Menston.
