Flashback to Andy Williams' Ilkley visit
10:52am Thursday 4th October 2012 in News
He may have been an international star, but Andy Williams’s career cut no ice with a new acquaintance on a visit to Ilkley.
The singer, who died last week aged 84, performed at the Craiglands Hotel during a UK concert tour in the late 1960s.
But Williams, who famously had hits with Moon River, Butterfly and Music To Watch Girls By, was greeted by a lion cub from Longleat Safari Park in Bath. The animal was also appearing in a promotion locally and staying at the same hotel with his keeper.
The picture was taken by John Rimington and forms part of his Hollywood and Las Vegas photos exhibition at the Waterside Restaurant in Shipley, which runs until the end of December.
