The owner of an interiors and gift shop is hosting an inaugural workshop event on the art of jewellery making.

Jewellery designer and college lecturer Libby Jubb, from Ilkley, will reveal the techniques of creating bracelets, earrings and pendants from sterling silver wire, semi-precious stones and Swarovski crystal to six people during the event at Nora’s Interiors and Gifts in the town.

Owner and founder of the South Hawksworth Street store, Victoria Newhouse, says she hopes the event will be the first of many.

“We have always stocked products that are hand-made by local suppliers because we know that provenance is important to customers,” she said.

“Libby has supplied Nora’s since we opened in 2010, and her hand-crafted items are amongst the most popular we sell.

“Giving an opportunity for our customers to visit the shop to watch Libby’s demonstration of fine jewellery making and then, using her materials, create their own items to take home is a fantastic way of not only introducing the person behind such beautiful creations but also gives customers the chance to create something truly personal and unique for themselves.

“We are hoping there will be a lot of interest as this is our first workshop, and we’re looking to introduce more events in the near future with my mum and joint owner, Fiona, running a Christmas-themed floristry demonstration and workshop in the coming weeks.”

There are only six places available for the Libby Jubb jewellery workshop on October 11, from 6pm to 7.30pm, at £30 per person, to include materials and refreshments.
