The Ilkley area has a new police chief.
Chief Superintendent Angela Williams, who was born and brought up locally, has taken over as commander of the Airedale and North Bradford division, which covers Ilkley, Addingham, Burley-in-Wharfedale and Menston.
She succeeds Chief Supt Ian Kennedy, who has retired.
Chief Supt Williams joined the police force 21 years ago, beginning as a patrol officer in the Chapeltown area of Leeds but worked in Bradford district for most of her career.
Her service has included a previous spell in Airedale and North Bradford, and latterly she was a superintendent in the Bradford South division.
She said: “I am fully aware of what it takes to police our communities and the expectations that members of the public quite rightly hold.
“Airedale and North Bradford is a place I know and love, and I am fully committed to providing its people with the best possible service.”
