Big honour for Ilkley business

An Ilkley business has won a national award for its commitment to defibrillator and CPR training.

Dene Healthcare won the Heart Safe Small Business of the Year award at this year’s UK Heart Safe Awards.

The event, hosted by Manchester-based charity Hand on Heart, was held at Salford City Stadium last Thursday evening.

Dene Healthcare has nine staff trained to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and has a defibrillator in its offices.

It also provides free defibrillator and CPR training to all its customers.

Hand on Heart aims to put defibrillators in schools all over the UK and has provided 15 fully funded defibrillator packages since the charity began in 2010.

Cardiac arrest claims the lives of 270 children at school per year and this is why Hand on Heart works tirelessly to raise awareness of this deadly killer.

Craig Arnott accepted the award on behalf of the company.

He said: “It’s been a tremendous honour.”
