Ilkley mums show the value of top-tips web idea

A pair of thrifty mums are celebrating as their new business venture is proving a success.

Earlier this month, Helen Pickard and Samantha Holden, from Ilkley, launched goodvalueformoney.com as a unique social network for savvy savers, sharing money-saving hints, tips, and great deals.

And in the fortnight following the launch of the site, the duo saw more than 20,000 visits, as people have flocked from all over the country to exchange tips on how to get a better deal.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the initial response,” said Mrs Pickard.

“What to begin with was simple sharing between friends has now gone large. It appears the site is capturing the imagination of people up and down the country as the word spreads.

“We have people from as far away as Singapore, Sydney and Nashville now sharing the benefit of their money saving knowledge on goodvalueformoney.com.

“And each day brings with it fresh excitement as our dream of national widespread sharing of money-saving magic is one step nearer to coming true.

“Those sharing their pearls of wisdom on a regular basis will be rewarded with spot prizes as a thank you for their valuable contributions.”

The website was conceived as result of the women’s desire to create an engaging money-saving social network after they met at the school gates and began searching for, and sharing news of, the best deals with their friends.

The website allows people to upload favourite nuggets on ways to save money, while benefitting from tips shared by other site visitors.

Some of the country’s top bloggers are also contributing to the site, with articles on getting the best deals, as well as exclusive competitions and offers negotiated by the goodvalueformoney.com team from the world of fashion, beauty, interiors, holidays, plus other lifestyle-themed goodies.
