Band plays on to raise almost £1,000 for hospice friends

A performance at Ilkley Bandstand by Silsden Town Brass Band on Saturday helped a hospice supporters’ group raise almost £1,000 for the cause.

The band entertained shoppers and visitors on Saturday morning in support of fundraising group Ilkley Friends of Martin House.

The collection at the bandstand and throughout the town centre raised £957 for the children’s hospice. The Ilkley Friends would like to thank the band for its support, and all those who gave so generously.

The Ilkley Friends of Martin House group has been raising funds for the hospice for the past six years.

Martin House Hospice cares for children and young people with progressive life-limiting illnesses, and provides support to their families. It is based in a purpose-built centre in Boston Spa, Wetherby, and cares for children and young people from throughout the Yorkshire region.

It relies almost entirely on voluntary donations, and this year celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Both the band and the Friends group always welcome new members.
